We got to keep some hair at BCT Ft. Leonard Wood back in 1976. Short on the sides but 2 inches on top. Only Charlie Company. The rest were shaved. Delta Company were the killers in training. Total hard ass. Must have been Sappers-to- be in AIT.

I can't tell if the range I shoot at didn't measure their range right, or if these targets just really felt that much closer at 25m. Peppered a target with irons on an MP5 pushin 30 rounds under 30 seconds all the way in the back for a birthday range day, and it felt good not missing, even with a barrel under 5". I can thank the Marine Corps for that.

drown proofing 40 foot tower with gear/dummy rifle; after 5 min. you can drop pack and rifle then 55 min of drown proofing [version of treading water but it works] I was lucky I was a SoCal guy swimming in the ocean, and gymnastist; so max the PT, 5: situps, squad trusts, pull ups, run, push ups; 100pts ea. first time I got 499; short guy so it took a bit for run and so 500. M14: 7.62/308 and 500 yds part of it: when did they whimp it Sorry I get it still tough but geez. I made pugle sticks and they didn't look anything like those, brutle on you hands if not done correctly and bags on the end were very HARD

This is a great video. I went to Paris Island in 78..I did 4 years. 3 years as a CH46 Crewchief. This video brings back a host of emotions. Id say the mental break and rebuilding process was pretty brutal but necessary. The physical training was tough but doable if you got yourself in shape BEFORE getting to paris Island. Dont go there, not in shape. Today, im 64 years old. Im still in good shape. Every marine on earth is my brother for life. Its just the way it is.

Army here. Definitely what happens when we lower the standards. I was actually the very last all male company to go through basic training. We saw the company behind us, which was coed and it blew our minds. Of course we were jealous at the time. But it’s definitely bad for our fighting men and women.

My 2 sons were Marines. One ran over an IED, has a rod in his back, never complains. I was Army 1975.

I am a Marine and I completed boot camp back in Sept.1975. the Corps has changed since my days at MCRD San Diego. However, the change was necessary for the young people of today. This was the most difficult training in my life and when I graduated, I was awarded merit PFC. We are still the few and the proud and need I say the best.

Get yourself in shape beforehand. Quit smoking and do what you're told. No questions !! Hooah
